United States (WorldETF, President : Choi Chul-kwon , hereinafter “Federation) signed a contract on establishment of the first overseas branch in Virginia, the United States.

The contract signing ceremony was held online in September 6 (Mon) due to COVID-19 and President Choi of World ETF, Jun Lee who will be the director of the Virginia branch, and federation executives attended in the ceremony.

The attendees agreed to cooperate on international competitions and support on membership of Taekwondo schools, and Taekwondo seminars to revitalize the Extreme Taekwondo. President Choi said “Taekwondo schools around the world are going through the tough time due to COVID-19 and our federation will play a part in revitalizing the Taekwondo schools so that we can all overcome this crisis together through the Extreme Taekwondo.

The first overseas branch is really meaningful and we will continue to grow as a global organization by making more branches in Korea and other countries.” Branch manager Jun Lee of Virginia branch said “I feel sense of responsibility as the director of the federation’s first branch and I will try my best in contributing to the globalization of Extreme Taekwondo.

I will work with the federation to enhance understanding on Extreme Taekwondo and spread Extreme Taekwondo more.” As a new corporate body, the federation plans to research and develop Extreme Taekwondo (tricking), hold World Extreme Taekwondo Championship, continue activities in Korea and other countries for training instructors and athletes, hold seminars, establish branches, open Taekwondo schools in membership, and cooperate with other associations.

The federation also plans to develop Extreme Taekwondo, Taekwondo demonstration skills, and freestyle poomsae and spread them to the Taekwondo schools. The federation will also cooperate with experts in each field to train the instructors and referees to foster the glottal experts in Extreme Taekwondo.

사단법인 세계익스트림태권도연맹(WORLDETF, 총재 최철권, 이하 ‘연맹’)는 미국 버지니아주에 첫 1호 해외지부 설립을 체결했다.

체결식은 6일(월) 코로나로 인해 화상으로 치러졌으며, 이 자리에 WorldETF 최철권 총재와 버지니아주 지부장을 맡는 준리(JunLee) 지부장과 연맹 임원들이 참석한 가운데 열렸다.

앞으로 익스트림태권도 활성화를 위해 국제대회 협력과 지도자 파견, 멤버십도장 사업, 세미나 등을 지원하기로 했다.

연맹 최철권 총재는 “현재 코로나로 인해 전 세계 태권도장들이 힘든 시기를 겪고 있는 이때 본 연맹이 익스트림태권도를 통해 이 힘든 시기를 함께 이겨낼 수 있도록 도장활성화를 위한 역할을 조금이나마 하겠다. 그러기에 이번 해외지부 설립은 큰 의미가 있고, 앞으로 국내외 지부를 설립하는 등 글로벌 단체로 성장해 가겠다.”고 포부를 밝혔다.

버지니아주 준리 지부장은 “세계익스트림태권도연맹의 첫 지부 설립과 지부장으로서 책임감을 갖고 익스트림태권도 세계화에 보템이 되도록 노력할 것이다. 더 많은 태권도인들이 익스트림태권도에 대한 이해와 보급화를 위해 연맹과 함께 최선을 다할 것이다.”라고 전했다. 

연맹은 신생 법인으로써 익스트림태권도(트릭킹) 연구 개발과 세계익스트림태권도대회 개최, 시범단 및 선수 양성을 목적으로 국내외 활동을 통해 세미나, 지부설립과 멤버십도장 가맹, 각 협회와 단체들과의 협업해 나아갈 계획이다.

또한 익스트림태권도, 태권도 시범기술, 자유품새 발전을 위해 일선 도장에 보급하고, 각 분야의 전문가들과 함께하여 지도자 교육과 전문 심판 교육을 통해 익스트림태권도 글로벌 전문가들도 양성한다. 연맹 홈페이지(www.worldetf.kr)를 통해 자세한 프로그램들을 접할 수 있다.
